  2. Phil Dell'Isola says:

As I commented on Lucy Ray’s Facebook post, I am so happy to see that tremendous Alan Fuqua smile. I know he is in glory today and I look forward to seeing him again when I am called home. He was a wonderfully soft spoken individual with an eye for the right camera shot at the right time. He made all directors better because of his skill and vision. No matter the production, from Hee Haw to a local commercial, he carried on that great tradition of superior production department people at Channel Five. He took that with him to Opryland productions, The Nashville Network and just got better as he went along. You could depend on him because he was the ultimate team player. Wanda, and all the Fuqua family are experiencing a great loss and we his friends share in that sorrow. However, I am greatful that I had the great fortune to work with Alan at Channel Five. I am thankful to God for giving me the gift of Alan Fuqua as a friend.

Allan took me under his wing when I relocated to Nashville and started my career at WLAC-TV. Not only did he teach me the “Ch 5 ropes” but also became a close friend. I remember the first time he took me to his home in Hendersonville, I met his wife Wanda and young son Brent. I don’t believe Alan ever said an unkind word about anyone or had one said about him. He liked everyone and with his gentle smile, sense of humor and soft voice, people quickly embraced his wit, humor and professional work ethic. Allen was a true southern gentleman and we are all better human beings for just knowing, working and loving him!
Sandra and I send our thoughts, prayers and sympathy out to Wanda, Brent and the entire family.
