Dee Donahue was the sweetest person’s I have ever known. I knew she was a very special person from the first day I met her. She welcomed me into the Donahue Family with open arms. She was always so nice, so caring and above all so giving to me.

This year was very difficult for Dee. She was so vibrant, so independent and so on the go. But her body started giving out, and really slowed down fast. And frankly she was not very happy about it, but she did the best she could.

Right now I am processing her passing. She was a part of Beth and I’s everyday life for the past 2 years. So it is very strange to think she is not longer with us. Her presence is still so strong. It is going to take a long time to say goodbye. I truly loved Dee and I am going to miss her. I am so grateful for all the times and memories we shared. She was the best Mother in Law I could have asked for. Rest in Peace Sweet Dee. Your Son-In Law – Robert

My sympathy and prayers to all of Dee’s family. I was her cousin and was the flower girl in her wedding so many years ago. At age six, I was so excited to be in the wedding and loved my blue poufy dress which I think was just like the bridesmaids. I wish I could have seen her when she was greeting people at Cracker Barrel! All the messages here really show that she was loved and cherished!

So sorry to hear this sad news. It was good to see her smiling face in the Columbia Tribune Obit page. That’s how I remember Dee as a member of the Columbia Chapter of Professional Secretaries International. Always smiling! She would have been a great greeter! She emailed me when the Chapter celebrated 65 yr anniversary and talked about the flooding of her home and everything she lost. She was in Columbia when we celebrated the 50th anniversary. The children and grandchildren are in our prayers.

    Hi,

I am so sorry I did not have the opportunity to meet Dolores. I was researching our family history, and only today connected the dots to find Dolores. She is my second cousin–her grandmother, Mary Dowd Stieferman Murray, is my grandmother Agnes Dowd Ruyle’s sister. Thank you for publishing the photo and the lovely obituary. She looks so much like my sister, Mary, and my aunts Agnes and Blanche! My Dad is gone, now, but every memorial day he used to have Mass said for her father, who was lost in WWII, and I do the same, now. I will include Dolores and her family in my prayers, too.
