I will love you forever Daddy. Thank you for being my daddy and for loving me so much. Life will never be the same without you here. I will continue to try to make you proud. I’d say you had the most toys so you do win. I will miss you everyday. Rest easy Daddy.

Dear Jewel, I’m Russ Killion from Naperville Church of Christ and I just learned about your dad passing away and it broke my heart. It was such a joy to see him, with you and your grandmother sitting in church. I had heard that he was sick but didn’t realize he was extremely sick. Your dad and I went to the same high school, Lane Tech. I’m quite a bit older than your dad but we always enjoyed talking about growing up in Chicago and attending Lane Tech. My wife Ro and I are still in FL but we will be home this summer so if you plan to have a memorial service for him, please let us know. You take care and hugs to you and your grandmother. Love Russ and Ro Killion

        • Jewel says:

Hello Russ! I remember you! Unfortunately he lost his battle with covid. That’s so cool I did not know that you both went to Lane Tech! We will be having one within the next few weeks still trying to figure out the date and time. But we will be having it at Naperville Church of Christ and will be live-streaming his service if that is something you are wanting to attend! I can update you once I know. Thank you for your kind words

    2. Sierra P says:

You were a great and kind man. You’ll always have a special place in my heart and be remembered by my family. You made my mom and I feel like we are apart of your family and I will always be appreciative of you. Thank you for always encouraging me to get two hot dogs instead of one, for taking me with you and Jewel to church, for showing Jewel and I the best movies, and for always keeping your eye out for me like I was one of your own. You will be missed greatly.

    3. CJ Zmarzlinski says:

It’s been some years Bobby, but I just got the news and I am absolutely stunned and heartbroken. You played so many different roles in my life as a child that I couldn’t pigeonhole you to just one. Brother, role model, mentor, counselor, but most of all you were my friend. Never judging, always supporting. I didn’t even have to ask, you just knew when you needed to be there and somehow you knew just what to say or do, to make things better. The song Don’t Worry, Be Happy (that you loved so much and made sure we knew that 😊) was the perfect way to explain you as a person. So much so, that that my brain associates it with you the second I hear it. So many of my great childhood memories have you in them, and I’m grateful for that. You were a great man Bobby Gant, one of the best, and those of us that knew you are better people for it. It’s a darker world without you here Bobby and you will be missed terribly. My heart goes out to Jewel and the rest of his family in this time. I love you Bobby and Rest Easy my man. ❤️

    4. Kathy Portis (Gant) says:

If you never had a brother like Sam than you have missed out and we had one of the best for sure. A sibling bonds and love like ours can never be replaced. I will miss everything about you that has made me who I am today so I will take some comfort in knowing you knew you were loved and that you love us so deeply . I guess on some days you were the luckiest because you have two younger sisters and two younger brothers that love you so much with double the grief we gave you too just remember everything we did was all done out of love. Love ya. We are the lucky ones to have such a great older brother. Love ya with my whole heart. You are a great brother to us, great son, and most of all a great father. Anyone who knew knew you were loyal and there for them no matter what. You would say you loved me first and I would say you loved me longer but I love you more and now I will love you longer and more. You will never leave my heart. As I know you are in heaven and you will llook over us all and try to send us signs that you have never left us and I know you hear us when we are the happiest with our laughter and you see us when we are sleeping at our most peaceful you will wrap your arms around us when we need it the most because everybody know you would give the best hugs and make us feel your love and take away our sorrow and I know you don’t want us to feel pain or guilt that we are still here or wish away our lives to bring you back home because you are surrounded with loved ones that proceeded you included our wonderful dad and marvelous brother Mark and that is why heaven is a beautiful place to be and for now you would want everyone you love to live life with laughter because you always told the best jokes maybe not always appropriate but funny and love one another because you always loved us even if we disagreed about something we always got over it quick too and enjoy life to the fullest and know that with every breath you take we will be taking one for you should make all of live a better life for you because that is what you would want the most and I will always remember you only see us when we are okay and at our happiest because there is no pain or sorrow in heaven. I know you know I have the gift of gab and I took every opportunity in every card I sent you was filled out on every inch of how much I love you so it’s only fair that you see this too and know how much I love you my sweet lovable brother and I wish you could have been with us forever and one day we will be back together again. Hope you are giving everyone up there all those great hugs and jokes and stories on all of us. Thanks for loving me for me. Yep you didn’t think you would get out of reading how much I love you did you? Just dealt with it! And every February 13th @ 916am I will celebrate you and say Happy Birthday first.

    5. Russell Killion says:

My wife Ro and I met Bob, Jewel and Alice at the Naperville Church of Christ many years ago. It was always a pleasure to see the three of them sitting together during the church service, then talking with them after the service. While I was quite a bit older than Bob, we had a lot in common. His parents and my parents were from Tennessee, yet we both grew up in Chicago and we both went to Lane Tech High School. Every Sunday we’d say hi and hug each other. He was such a kind and caring man and he’ll be missed by everyone who knew him. Love and hugs to Jewel and Alice. Russ and Ro Killion

    6. Patti Buckingham says:

I’m so sorry for your loss. May you find joy in memories and love in times of sorry. My love and prayers are with your family. Peace be with you.

    7. John Guerrieri says:

I cannot being to express what a blessing it was to have you and your family be part of our lives growing up. There was always plenty of excitement whenever we were getting together with the Gants, and as long as Charles and Mark were around, the opportunity for a little mischief! It has been an even greater blessing and an honor to have had you for a life long friend. Whether it was on the annual spring fishing trip, sitting on the back deck enjoying some barbeque and lamenting the attributes of millennials, the hours spent on the phone discussing everything from the challenges of parenthood to the challenges of being a Bears fan, or just sitting by the campfire saying nothing, my life has been a better place for having you in it. Thank you. You were a man of utmost integrity and unshakable conviction (sometimes to the point of stubbornness) not unlike your father. You were a man of great kindness and tremendous generosity not unlike your mother. You were my friend, my brother. I will miss you and love you always.

    8. Kari Cobarrubias says:

Bobby was one of the best friends I ever had!! He was always there for me and my family!! One of the best people I have had the honor of calling my friend!! I Love You Bobby!! Rest in Peace my friend!!
Jewel you were truly blessed to have him as your father!! He always loved kids, but I’ll never forget how elated he was when you came in to his life!!

    9. Carol Limbaugh says:

Sam you will be missed by everyone that knew you. I pray for peace and comfort for all your family and friends! I will always cherish the memories we made here in Tennessee every summer. I still can’t believe your parents would let everyone of y’all come and stay the whole summer. That was always the highlight of my summer and was so sad when y’all left. Love you and I will miss you!

    10. Bruce Gant says:

Jewel, I never met you but I’m your fathers cousin, Bruce. Should you ever want stories of your father’s youth, contact Kathy. She will tell you about the early 70’s when they lived in north Alabama. Thoughts and prayers, Bruce

    11. Veronica says:

Mr. Gant, I don’t think I ever had the pleasure of meeting you. But I knew your daughter and what a young woman you raised. She means so much to me and I hope you will continue to guide her now you’ve entered the Heavenly plane. Please look over your precious Jewel as best as you can in the afterlife, but know she has many people still here on Earth who will protect and care for her. If you run into an angel named Marshall, that’s my brother, and he would love to talk about fishing and repairing old cars with you May you find eternal peace only God can provide.

    12. Tuma Family says:

I remember your Dad always smiling and he was a good guy. He would come to our house to drop you off or pick you up for sleepovers. We would talk at the door for awhile before he left. You are the Apple of his Eye and he will forever be in your heart. May he Rest In Paradise. Hugs and Kisses to you.
