Maria Wilson

March 26, 1962 — December 27, 2025

Springfield

Antonia Maria Wilson, born on March 26, 1962, departed this life on December 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and care. Maria's journey as a compassionate caregiver spanned over 25 years when she dedicated her life as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), retiring from NHC Springfield, where her gentle touch and kind heart touched many lives.

A proud graduate of Tate High School and Jefferson Davis Community College, Maria earned her LPN degree and found her calling in serving others—be they children or the elderly. She was known for her fun-loving personality, always radiating warmth with a hug given as soon as you met her. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Maria was deeply devoted to her family and her husband, Paul Wilson, with whom she shared a loving partnership since their marriage on October 14th, Columbus Day, in 2002. Together, they walked side by side, committed to building a beautiful life that centered around family.

Maria was a beloved member of Grace Freewill Baptist church, actively participating in her community and supporting those around her. Her passion for caregiving extended beyond her career; she derived joy from taking care of her family and friends, always putting their needs ahead of her own. This selflessness defined her, making her a true protector to those she cherished.

In her leisure time, Maria found happiness at the beach, indulged in the wonder of Disney movies, and took pride in her Creek Indian heritage, with a special love for dreamcatchers. Her most cherished accomplishments were found in her family with their daughters Christina Maria Hadley (Marshall), Jessica Renee Wilson, and Emily Ann Crums (Jamie), and being a loving grandmother to Christopher Holden, Luke Hadley, Josten Clayborn, Emma Clayborn, Dallas Wilson, Shyan Rolin, Elizabeth (Austin) Williams, and Evelyn Conway, as well as a proud great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she shared a deep bond with her sister, Monica Denise Johnson, her brother, John David (Brenda) Isaacs Jr., and her seven nieces and nephews and her favorite mule, Katie.

Maria is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Sallye Mae Wilson, who she held in high regard.
