Bernard "Charley" Thomas, 80 of Springfield, went home to be with his Lord, Monday, July 12, 2021. Although he was vaccinated, he passed due to complications of Covid 19. Born May 28, 1941 in Tucumcari, NM, Charley was the son of the late Bernard Cecil Thomas and Lennie Olive Laster Thomas. A veteran of the US Army, Charley enlisted after graduating from High School. His eldest daughter, Tina Marie was born while he was stationed in Germany with his wife, Juanita Marie (Nita Re) Parker Thomas. After being honorably discharged from the Army and returning to the states, Trudy Louise and Brian Cecil were added to the family. Charley went on to work in numerous occupations in multiple states, but the years he spent ranching gave him the most enjoyment. Charley was loved by family and friends alike and was always willing to help anyone in need. His kindness, generosity and orneriness will be missed by all. Charley is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Juanita; two daughters, Tina Rinka (Mark) and Trudy Mullenix (Randall); a son, Brian C. Thomas (Lea); 10 grandchildren, Steven Rinka, John Rinka, Esther Gallarday, Matthew Rinka, Michael Mullenix, Miranda Heroux, Kendall Mullenix, Brayton Thomas, Zane Thomas, and Caitlyn Thomas; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Bason and Rebecca Cawthon; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held at South Haven Baptist Church, 116 Academy Dr., Springfield, TN Saturday from 10 am until 1 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 pm at South Haven followed by interment at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
