Billy Howard Cashion, age 87 of Cedar Hill, was born February 16, 1928 and went to be with his Lord and Savior June 23, 2015. He was the son of late Russell Oliver Cashion, Sr. and Mary Jane Brinkley Cashion. He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and one daughter. He is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Clara Cashion, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of extended family and loving friends.

Mr. Cashion was a member of The Greatest Generation, Billy proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He played football for the United States Navy and after his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, continued his education and football career at The University of Kentucky for Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. He remained in the US Naval Reserve for 4 years after his discharge and completed his education and his football career at Austin Peay State University.

Billy was a mechanic at Associated Transport and retired from Consolidated Freight Lines. He was an active member of The Greenbrier Masonic Lodge #753 and was this years Worshipful Master, as well as The Al Menah Shrine Temple. He was an avid and talented woodworker who attended woodworking classes at Hunter's Lane High School. He was a friend, mentor, and role model to many and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Centennial Hospital Critical Care Unit for their excellent care of BH and his family.

A Life Celebration was held on Saturday, June 27th, at 11am in the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville with David Arnold, Mitch Blansett, Todd Smith, Jeff Cashion, Mike Callis and Will Johnson serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Friday, June 26th from 3 until 8pm with a Masonic Service at 7pm, then again on Saturday from 10am until the time of service.
