Charles P. Alvarez, age 67, lovingly known as “Chuck”, passed away at his home in Dover, TN, on February 23rd, 2026. He was born on December 16th, 1958, to the late Antonio and Elisia Alvarez in Waukegan, IL. He is also preceded in death by his sisters Rose and Becky, as well as his brother Rico. He is survived by his beloved wife Carney West, his sons Matt Alvarez and Nick Alvarez, brothers Tony Portalatin and Ceasar Portalatin, his stepchildren Donnie (Heather) West, JD (Shannon) West, Kenny (Kerri Beth) West, and Janice (James) Rawls, as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss his dearly.
A dedicated foreman with Com Ed Electric, Chuck poured his heart into his career, leaving behind a legacy that echoed through the connections he fostered until his well-deserved retirement in 2014. As the sun set on his professional journey, he embraced a new chapter in Tennessee, finding solace in a landscape that mirrored the tranquility he cherished, often taking moments to indulge in the serene view of the waterfront.
Beyond his professional accolades, Chuck was a die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears, passionately cheering for his team and often attending games whenever the opportunity arose. His spirit was full of life, a reflection of countless memories spent outdoors, soaking in nature’s splendor while forging bonds with those he loved. Aside from sports, he loved music and dancing. A testament to his love of music and dance, Chuck and his wife would go on to win a few dancing competitions together.
James Rawls will be presiding over our funeral services. Pall Bearers are to include Donnie West, JD West, Kenny West, Justin Yates, David Moss, and Matt Franklin.
As we gather to honor the life of Charles P. Alvarez, family and friends are invited to Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Springfield, Tennessee. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on March 3, 2026, followed by a Funeral Service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A burial will conclude the day’s tributes from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, where we will lay him to rest amidst hallowed ground, a final testament to a life lived with love and purpose.
