Curtis Hester, a beloved figure in the community of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away on June 16, 2024 at his home with his wife by his side. His loss reverberates through the hearts of those who knew and cherished him. Curtis led a life filled with purpose, dedication, and unwavering faith.
With a career spanning various ventures, including Curtis Hester Motor Sales, Hester Rentals, and a pastoral role at Christ Community Apostolic, Curtis touched the lives of many through his generosity and commitment. He devoted over two decades to each endeavor, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and compassion.
Known for his selfless nature and deep spirituality, Curtis was described as someone who embodied the true essence of love as exemplified by Jesus. His commitment to serving others and his sold-out devotion to God earned him respect and admiration from all who crossed his path.
Throughout his life, Curtis embarked on missions to places like the Philippines, Haiti, and Africa, demonstrating his heart for helping those in need. His love for old cars and unwavering support for Alabama made him a passionate fan screaming "Roll Tide!" at every opportunity. Additionally, his musical talents shone through as he played the guitar and sang from his heart.
Curtis' memory will be cherished by his surviving family members: his wife with whom he shared a profound love and partnership in faith for over 50 years, Hazel Hester; children Darryl Wayne (Susie) Hester, Cathy Mabry, Danie Kerchenski, Raquel (Mark) Bischoff and Priscilla (Brent) Crouch; grandchildren, Krystal Hester, Mark Alan (Leneice Holland) Holmes, Chase (Mindy) Mabry, Candis (Jacob) Hudman, Caleb Hester, Kimberli (Chris) Callis, Rebekah (Marshall) Holland, Krista (Jesse) Handley, Malachi (Amber) Mabry, Jillian (Sara) Crouch, Addyson (Bradley Wilson) Bischoff, Tyler Bischoff and Jordan Crouch; 9 great-grandchildren and two on the way; sister, Marlene Cunningham; niece, Barbara Faye (Rick) Maness, and special sons, Aldrico Garvida, Jr., Jaime Sanginez and Bartolo Real.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Aubry and Cliston Flora Woodham Hester; and seven siblings.
A visitation will be held on June 20th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Additional visitations will follow on June 21st from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and a Celebration of Life service from 1:00 PM with Pastor James Rawls, Larry Flowers and Brother Aldrico Garvida, Jr., from the Philippines, officiating. Entombment will take place on June 21st at 3:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Goodlettsville with Caleb Hester, Mark Alan Holmes, Chase Mabry, Malachi Mabry, Jordan Crouch, Tyler Bischoff, Bartolo Real, and Jaime Sanginez serving as pallbearers.
Curtis Hester's humor, kindness, and dedication to others have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived—a life that truly exemplified what it means to be a servant of God. In honoring his memory, may we also carry forward his legacy of love and service towards one another. He was truly a great man loved by many.
