Mrs. Dorothy Marie “Dot” Jones, age 98, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Cedar Hill, Tennessee. Born on June 16, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, she lived a long and meaningful life marked by compassion, service, and devotion to her family and faith.
Dorothy was the daughter of the late Newton E. Allen and Inez Gertrude Blocker Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles Robert Jones Jr., with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. She is lovingly remembered by her children; son, Thomas Allen Jones and his wife Cheryl Nina; daughter Kathryn Jones Dupree and her husband David; Her legacy continues through her grandsons, Robert Galen Dupree (April) and Jonathan Randall Dupree (Rachel). She is also remembered by her step grandson, Woodrow W. Singletary. Jr. and three great-grandchildren.
Dorothy embraced life with warmth and hospitality. A graduate of Emory University with a degree in Nursing. Dorothy dedicated over 35 years of her life to the nursing profession. She had a great love of camping, fishing and traveling. Talented in quilting and sewing, she spent the last decade of her life creating charity quilts for communities in Haiti and among American Indian groups.
Being of the Christian faith, she worshipped within various Christian denominations over the years, always finding strength and community in her beliefs.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 3pm in the Dorchester Memory Gardens in Summerville, South Carolina. A reception will follow at Gateway Community Church 3537 S. Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, S.29461.
