Dorothy
Wood
Feb 15, 1944 — Oct 11, 2026
Springfield
Dorothy Wood, born Dorothy Sloan, passed away on October 11, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on February 15, 1944, in Springfield, Tennessee, and lived a life marked by devotion, steadiness, and deep care for those around her.
A graduate of Greenbrier High School, Dorothy went on to work for many years as an office secretary. She carried herself with a sense of order and purpose, and those who knew her will remember how neat and tidy she was in all she did. More importantly, she will be remembered as loving and caring, a provider who took care of everything and gave of herself in quiet, meaningful ways.
Dorothy found happiness in life’s simple and familiar pleasures. She enjoyed watching television, especially the Game Show Network and HGTV, and she was particularly fond of Family Feud and My Lottery Dream Home. She also loved nature and treasured time spent sitting on her porch, watching the birds and taking in the peace around her.
Above all else, Dorothy’s proudest accomplishment was her family. The love she gave, the care she offered, and the constancy of her presence will remain a lasting part of the lives she touched. She leaves behind the memory of a woman whose life was defined not by grandeur, but by faithfulness, warmth, and the everyday acts of love that hold a family together.
She is reunited in heaven with her loving husband of 59 years Jerry Wood, and her parents Hilmon and Rachel Sloan. She is survived by her children Amanda (Robert) Franklin and Tammy (Lorne) Jacobson, her grandchildren: Cameron, Caden, Jordan, and Jaren, 5 great grandchildren, and her brother Jerry Wayne (Ann) Sloan.
Dorothy will be remembered with affection and gratitude, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
