Dorris E. Potts, Jr. age 61 of Greenbrier, passed away on August 11, 2020 at Tennessee Valley Healthcare System- Nashville Campus of Veterans Affairs.
Mr. Potts was born on January 3, 1959 to the late Dorris E. and Jo Ann Green Potts Sr. in Nashville. He attended McGavock High School and graduated in 1977. After graduation he enlisted into the United States Navy where he spent four years before being discharged. Mr. Potts worked for 20 years as a Tractor Truck Operator and Owner before he retired due to health concerns.
After his retirement Mr. Potts was able to spend more time with his family that he loved dearly. It was no secret that his grandchildren had him wrapped around his little finger especially Lilah. He loved UT Vols Football, The Bears and the Tennessee Titans. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his family. He was famous for his delicious steaks and salads. He married the love of his life on September 24, 2016, Cindia Cortez; they enjoyed long walks near Percy Priest and enjoying picnics on the bank of the lake. If it wasn't nice enough for a walk, they would enjoy a good western either at the movie theater or at home on the couch.
Potts will always be remembered as a loving husband, daddy, and grandpa.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Potts is preceded in death by his sister, Claressia Hampton.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Cortez Potts; children, Christy Potts, Natalie (Jeremey) Tyron, Tiffany (Andrew) Johannis, Rafael (Jackie) Cardoza and Chelsea Erixason; grandchildren, Lillah Johnnis, Dax Tyron, Grant Nunan; sister, Donna Kay DeLoach; brother, Anthony Dean Potts; special friends, Billy Fisher and Isabella (Deryk) Hilton and a host of extended family that will miss him dearly.
A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 2pm in the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14th 5-8pm and on Saturday 12pm until the time of service.
