Dovie Lynn Startup, beloved Mom and Grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 14.
Her life was spent in service to God and in prayer for those she loved. Her role as prayer warrior defined her life and character. Those who had the privilege of knowing her, received the blessing of her constant prayers.
Dovie was born June 9, 1927 in Nashville, TN, the daughter of the late Pleas White and Lola Belle (Dorris) White. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Startup and her brothers, Bob and Paul White. She had been an active and faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 60 years. She had taught Sunday School and also sung in the choir for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Don) Hendrix; her son, Tim (Sandra) Startup; grandchildren, Todd (Amy) Hendrix, Trent (Kelli) Hendrix, Summer (Josh) Regel, Emily (Ryan) Fulkerson, and Blake (Trish) Startup; 18 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Jean Allison and Margie Haney; and extended family and friends.
A private celebration of life service for Dovie will be held Wednesday with officiated by Pastor Brandon Pugh. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be a private family gathering on Tuesday. Acting as pallbearers will be Todd Hendrix, Trent Hendrix, Blake Startup, Ryan Fulkerson, Josh Regel, and Barry White. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses at Morningside Assisted Living and also to the caregivers of Comfort Care of Springfield. The care, love and devotion extended to our mother is greatly appreciated.
