Charlene Long, age 67 of Adairville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018.

She was born on January 17, 1951 to Robert and Ellen Dempsey of Chattanooga, TN.

Charlene was described as a very giving, caring and helpful woman by all who knew her. She loved life and enjoyed every aspect of it as much as possible. Even in her retirement she was always on the move, enjoying Sunday Morning Worship at Keysburg Baptist Church, transporting grandchildren, rescuing animals, Facebooking, cooking, and sending lots of cards!

She loved the holidays and decorated for every holiday to perfection. She enjoyed all types of music and dancing. She had an outstanding work ethic her whole life. She truly enjoyed her friends and coworkers throughout her career. Charlene could bring a smile to anyone's face. She was called an "angel on earth" by so many of her friends and family. Charlene enjoyed cooking and her retirement. She was famous for her spaghetti salad, cornbread, and grape salad.

She will forever be remembered as a loving Daughter, Wife, Mother, MeMaw, and Great-Meemaw.

Charlene is preceded in death by her father, Robert Dempsey; brother, James "Bo" Dempsey; and sister, Shirley Dempsey.

She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Jerry Long; children, Melissa (Susan) Long-Quave and Jerry (Tracy) Long II. Her mother, Ellen Dempsey; grandchildren, Andrew Long, Chandler Quave, Levi Long, and Carly Long, and great-grandchild, Presley Long.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 21st, at 11am with Brother Jimmy Chapman officiating, burial will follow at 5pm at McCormick Cemetery in Dora, Alabama with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 20th, from 4-8pm then again on Saturday from 10am until the time of service.
