Jacqueline Gail Davers Oaks, born on September 17, 1958, in Seymour, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. A woman of great warmth and incredible spirit, Jackie dedicated her life to her family, leaving an indelible mark on all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
As a proud graduate of Brownstown Central High School, Jackie went on to build a fulfilling career in data entry and medical transcription. She devoted herself to her role as a full-time Gran, a title she wore with pride and joy. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she made it a point to be present for their most significant milestones, from births to performances, graduations and sporting events. Jackie was truly a constant presence, embodying the role of a supporter and cheerleader for each of her Grands- bigs, middles and littles.
Her love for reading was profound, nurtured in her children and carried forth into her grandchildren’s lives. Bedtime routines were lovingly adjusted to allow a few extra moments for reading either to themself or from her, this simple act instilling a lifelong appreciation for literature in her family. Jackie was known to buy the books that her children and grandchildren were reading, embracing their literary journeys and engaging in meaningful conversations about them. This dedication to fostering a love of reading became a cherished memory for many.
Jackie's remarkable personality was characterized by her loving nature, wit, and caring attitude. She was both gentle and wise, often known for her sarcastic humor that would bring laughter to any gathering. Her friends and family valued her advice, knowing she was always just a phone call away, ready to listen and offer support, no matter the hour.
Jackie was active in the lives of her children in many ways- she could be found in classrooms, Field Days, field trips, sidelines of sporting events, Vacation Bible School, PTA, 4H events, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, dance lessons, and Bible Quizzing events. This carried over to her grandchildren. Among her proudest accomplishments was running Camp Gran every summer for her Grands. Her leadership and commitment left a lasting impression on those around her.
Jackie was fully present in the lives of her family, including travelling to see them and be with them. She took frequent trips to Indiana to keep her Hoosier roots strong. She cherished time spent with her mom, siblings, and extended family. Among other treasured experiences of travel included: beach trips with Linda, visiting Ben and his family when they lived in Louisiana, Gatlinburg with Amy’s family, and The Cape with her mom, Debbie, and Elizabeth.
Jackie was a beautiful example of Christian love. Sunday mornings she could be found in a pew or watching online at White House Church of the Nazarene. Often leading congregational worship during her time at Springfield Nazarene. She also served as missionary president for a time, various board roles as needed, and led a ladies group where she gained many cherished friends over the years. She often had children or grandchildren in tow hoping to instill the same passion for involvement in a church home as she had. Jackie grew up in the church and never departed from its path, deeply rooted in the love of Christ that she always displayed toward others.
