John W. "Bill" Abbott age 68 of Ashland City, TN passed away on August 14, 2017 in Nashville.

He was born on September 13, 1948 to the late John H. Abbott and Barbara Lathrop Sickles in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was raised mostly by his grandparents Onetta and Frank Carpino.
After graduating high school Mr. Abbott joined the United States Army. He held numerous jobs but his favorite was being an EMT.
Mr. Abbott was a fun-loving man always generous to others, having a huge heart for his family and animals. He enjoyed golfing, watching TV, movies, and football especially the Pittsburg Steelers and Notre Dame.
He was extremely talented when it came to drawing and painting. He even went as far as making a rustic barn for his Christmas Village that took up an entire room in their home.
One of his and his wife Virginia's (Ginny) most enjoyable trips was the two week honeymoon they took traveling through Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and ending at Virginia Beach. They would stop in small towns like Colonial Williamsburg.
Mr. Abbott will forever be remembered as a devoted and affectionate Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his children, Gail Abbott and Johnny Abbott; son-in-law Gary Fromm and granddaughter, Marissa Fromm.
He is survived by his beloved wife Virginia Beechy-Abbott; children, Lynn (Greg) Witte, Bill Abbott, and Melanie Fromm; grandchildren, Kaylee (Austin Potts) Nuttle, Jacob Abbott, and Andrea Fromm; great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Brandon Potts; siblings Debra (Joe) Valenti; Aneta (Jerry) Buffington; and Frank (Shelly) Sickles.
A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of service.
Inurnment will be on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00am at Joelton Hill Memorial Gardens: 6216 Clarksville Pike, Joelton, TN 37080.
