Johnny Ray Wallace, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, in Springfield, Tennessee. Born on January 20, 1943, in Tennessee City, TN, Johnny lived a life marked by service, devotion, and deep ties to family and community.
Johnny dedicated much of his career to public service, proudly working for thirty-two years as a Metro Nashville Firefighter. For the last twenty years of his career, he served at Engine 32 in Hermitage. His commitment to helping others and his courage in the face of adversity made him a respected figure among his colleagues and community.
Alongside his firefighting career, Johnny was an entrepreneur. For over fifty years, he owned and operated Bulk Vendors, supplying vending machines and video games to businesses throughout Tennessee and southern Kentucky. With a strong work ethic and a friendly smile, he brought fun and delight to countless people.
Johnny’s love for life extended far beyond his professional accomplishments. He was a proud member of the Greenbrier Masonic Lodge #753 F&AM and the Al Menah Shriners, where he served as part of the Director Staff. His faith was an anchor in his life; as a deacon at Ridgetop First Baptist Church, Johnny contributed generously to the food ministries and served as a faithful member since 1996.
Johnny was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, friend , and neighbor. He had a gentle nature, an infectious laugh and cared deeply for his family and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
Johnny’s hobbies included fishing on Old Hickory Lake, camping and fishing at Kentucky Lake in years past, traveling with family and spending quality time working on his 1953 Chevrolet 3100 truck with his son. Johnny kept a beautiful lawn, loved tending his garden, feeding the birds and animals that visited his yard and most of all, spending time with his grandsons. In recent years, some of Johnny's fondest memories also include traveling to Tunica, Metropolis, The Mint, and most recently, Granville, with his wife, Shirley, always by his side.
Johnny leaves behind his devoted wife, Shirley Wallace; daughter, Jana L. (Troy) Wood; son, Michael Wallace (Amanda Robertson); and grandchildren Jacob Wood and Jack Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert A. and Evelyn Wallace, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became.
To honor Johnny’s life, visitation will be held at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4005 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, TN 37172, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow at the same location from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m with Pastor Ralph Carter Officiating.
Johnny Ray Wallace will be remembered for his faith, his kindness, and the warmth he brought into the lives of all who were fortunate to know him. His legacy of love, service, and generosity will live on in his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
