Larry Bogar

Larry Paul Bogar, age 75 of Greenbrier, passed away on November 24, 2021 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

He was born on May 20, 1946 to the late Kenneth and Goldie Bogar in Nahma, MI. He worked for many years as a teacher in Florida and Ohio and finally the KY & TN Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Schools until his retirement at the age of 68.  Mr. Bogar spent the last 15 years at the Madison Campus Elementary where he taught 6th grade. He was an accomplished trumpet player and his joy of teaching and love for music poured over to him starting a Handbell Choir. He taught a group of children how to play and together they traveled to different churches to perform. He was an avid reader of his Bible and Christian novels. Mr. Bogar loved his church and his students.

Mr. Bogar enjoyed working outside from cultivating flowers and shrubs to mowing the yard. He and his wife Anita enjoyed traveling through the Untied States, hitting both Alaska and Hawaii. Their passion for history extended their traveling outside the US sending them to the United Kingdom, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Turkey, and other Western European Countries. Through all their travels and exploring the world their family and church always brought them home to a house full of love.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bogar is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dr Steven Mann.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Anita L. Bogar; children, Jimmy (Christi) Bell, Rodney Bell and Kristi (Joey) Gabriel; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Bonnie (Bill) Hicks; brother, Donald (Sharla) Bogar; sister-in-law, Virginia (Steve) Yancey and a host of extended family.

A Life Celebration will be held on December 18, 2021 at 2:30pm in the chapel of Springfield Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:30pm until the time of service. Inurnment will follow in The Fountains at Springfield Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Larry Bogar to Madison Academy’s new pavilion.
