Larry William Murphy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on August 13, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 27, 1946, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Larry was known for his vibrant personality and an infectious sense of humor that made everyone feel welcomed; he truly never met a stranger.
Larry's life was characterized by his dedication to family and community. He cherished his role as a husband to Ms. Theresa Murphy, with whom he shared a loving union for 42 years. Larry is survived by his children, Kim (Ray) Peavey, Larry Murphy Jr. (Natalie), Lindsay (Randy) Houghton, and Phillip Kittrell. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to 19 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 4 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him joy and laughter.

Larry will be deeply missed by his loved ones, especially as they remember him not just for his accomplishments, but for the warmth and humor he brought into their lives. He now joins his parents, Jean and Belvaley Murphy, and his daughter, Beverly Murphy, who preceded him in death.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Larry's life during a visitation on August 18, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on August 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 4005 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, TN 37172. A Celebration of Life will follow on August 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
Larry William Murphy will be remembered for his sociable nature, his laughter, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy of joy and connection will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
