Leola Moss Darnell, age 88 of Marysville, KY and formally of Springfield passed away on August 22, 2019. She was born on December 6, 1930 in Joelton, Tennessee to the late James Warren and Leona Mai Moss.

She was one of seven children born to her parents. Leola enjoyed helping her father with furniture for Hinkle Chair Company. She was a member of Church of Christ and loved reading her Bible.

Mrs. Darnell married the love of her life on December 24, 1954 Mr. Jimmy Lee Darnell. They would be blessed with two children Pamela and Hank. They raised their children on Emily Lane in Goodlettsville. Their house became the neighborhood hand out. Mrs. Darnell became like a second mother to Hank's lifelong friend, Kent Mitchell son of Kenny and Linda Mitchell friends and business partner in Jimmy's restaurant at the Nashville Farmers Market. They later moved to Gum Station Road in Springfield. In 2005, Jimmy succumbed to complication from cancer, Mrs. Darnell was thankful to be able to keep him at home and cared for him until his passing.

She worked for many years at Austin Periodical and retired from there. She took pride in her work boxing magazines for shipping. Her boss always knew the count would be correct in her boxes and ready to ship on time. Mrs. Darnell was a hard-working woman. She would work all day at Austin's, come home to clean house, cook dinner, make extra meat loaves and cornbread for Jimmy's Restaurant and spend hours working in her yard. She loved working in her yard adding/moving flower beds, planting flowers and more bushes than one could count.

Mrs. Darnell loved her pets. She had her beloved Brandy for many years and then came her third child Scrappy. She often told Pam and Hank if she had to choose a favorite child it would be Scrappy. They say pet owners and their pets often resemble each other. Leola and Scrappy took it to the next level and acted the same. They were both happy as long as you were feeding them and giving them some sweet tea. Yes, you had to poor two glasses of sweet tea so they each could have their own. If you tried to make them do something they didn't want to do, you would receive a growl from both of them.

Mrs. Darnell will forever be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Darnell is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jimmy Lee Darnell and siblings, Dorothola Merritt, Opal Warick, Catherine Simpkins, Charles Moss and Cylde Moss.

She leaves behind Children Pamela (Tom Queen) Gregory and Hank (Angela) Darnell; grandchildren, Charlene Gregory, Crystal Laney, Lisa Gregory and Haleigh Darnell; great-grandchildren, Caleb Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, Ethan Laney, Emma Laney and Amon Laney and sister Thelma Louis Winter.
