Lizzie Blain, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 13, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on August 10, 1950, Lizzie dedicated her life to her family and her faith, encapsulating the essence of a nurturing spirit that touched everyone around her.
For many years, Lizzie served as a secretary for String Fellow, a role she undertook with dedication and grace. Alongside her professional endeavors, Lizzie was a proud member of New Union Baptist Church in Russellville, Kentucky, where she found great joy in serving the Lord and her church community. Her commitment to her family was unwavering; her face would light up with joy whenever she was reunited with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. These moments of love and happiness were cherished in her heart and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Friends and family often recall Lizzie's sweet personality and her desire to care for everyone around her. Known for her distinctive style, she loved to wear her comfortable, sloppy clothes, showcasing her relaxed approach to life. A passionate seamstress, she also enjoyed playing games on her iPad and streaming her favorite shows, including Hawaii 5-0, which brought her joy and entertainment.
Lizzie was also the devoted owner of her beloved dog, Daisy, who accompanied her on many adventures and brought her endless companionship.
She is survived by her children, Teressa Kaye (Charles) Wright, John Thomas (Machele) Whittemore, Mark Dewayne (Alecia) Whittemore and Kevin (Norma) Blain; grandchildren, Tiffany (Bradley) Simmons, Christian (Emily) Wright, Josh (Meagan) Whittemore, Jacob (Jenna Rose Blythe) Whittemore, Alexis (Darin) Goodwin, and Kristy (Miles) Calvert; 11 great- grandchildren, Sisters, Maggie (Joe) Rose and Libby (Butch) Inman.
Liz is preceded in death by her husband Darvin Blain; parents, Walter and Mary Ellen Epley; siblings, Rosie Tucker, Martha Harris, Irene Lester and Odie Epley; and her precious Daisy.
Her life will be celebrated with a series of services at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center located in Springfield, TN. Visitation will be held on June 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00 PM. The burial will take place the same day at 2:00 PM.
Lizzie Blain's legacy of love, care, and the joy she brought into the lives of others will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
