Mary Batts

Mary Virginia (Sanders) Batts age 90 of Springfield passed on July 30, 2022 at Morning Side of Springfield.

Mary Virginia (or Gena as many of those close to her knew her) was born in Nashville on March 21st, 1932 to Francis (Jim) Lee & Florence Evelyn Sanders.  Her parents were members of Grace Baptist Church and began taking her there as an infant.  It was as a child at Grace Baptist that she invited Jesus into her heart.  She graduated from East Nashville High School in 1949 and married James Curtis Batts (her Jimmy) on May 12th, 1951.  He was the love of her life and she was his.  She loved the Lord and was instrumental in leading both of her children to love Him and accept Him as their Savior.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Batts is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Batts.

She is survived by her children, Vicki Wilhoit (Mike) & Lee Ann Riviere (Todd); grandchildren, Chris Davis (Melissa), Jennifer Davis & Amanda Clanton (Keyan Clanton) and great-grandchildren, Courtney Murphy, Buck Davis & Rowen Clanton.

A Life Celebration will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Springfield Funeral Home with Bro. David Harbison officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens will Chris Davis, Buck Davis, Greg Sanders, Keyan Clayton, Tim Sanders, and Jeff Ulmer.
