Maxine Locke

Maxine Ruth (Highsmith) Locke, 90, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018. Born December 24, 1927 in Flatt Rock, IL, she was the daughter of the late Orman "Babe" Highsmith and Velma E. Mathews Highsmith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Locke; two sisters and two brothers. Maxine received an Associates Degree in Religious Education and had attended the same seminary as her husband. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she was known for her laughter, being a "prayer warrior" and her remarkable blue eyes. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Harold (Jeanne) Locke; her daughter, Lori (Randy) Burgess; her four grandchildren, Ashton Burgess, Chae Burgess, Bob Locke and Brenda Sutfin; her five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sharon Nieman, Vera Blankenbeker and Irma Jean Williams; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Robinson Township Cemetery, East Main St. (Rt 33), Robinson, IL. Arrangements have been entrusted to Springfield Funeral Home, Springfield, TN.
