Ola Belle Buchanan, age 96 of Goodlettsville, passed away on Wednesday, August 08, 2018 at Skyline Madison Campus.

She was born on May 12, 1922 in Greenbrier, she was the 7th child of the late Robertson Alanzo and Mary Elizabeth Orsbon. She married William Taylor Buchanan and welcomed their only child Sarah on August 11, 1942. She worked for over 40 years at DuPont in Old Hickory retiring in the late 80's to spend more time with her family.

Mrs. Buchanan loved her faith, family and flowers. She volunteered for many years at her church and taking food to the men that worked in the church. She was a member of Bethel Baptist for many years and the last 20 years attended Trinity Baptist Church in Hendersonville. Mrs. Buchanan enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel Music and would take her daughter and granddaughter to the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville to see different artist preform. It was one of Connie's' favorite memories of her mother and grandmother.

She was an exceptional seamstress and made all of her daughter and most of her granddaughter's dresses growing. Mrs. Buchanan has a special talent, she could look at a picture and replicate it without a pattern. In later years, she would spend hours crocheting blankets and other items for her family. She loved when the family would gather together for dinner and it was always a special treat when she made her famous Coconut Cake. The family made many trips to Florida, the Great Smokey Mountains and to Chattanooga and one unforgettable trip to Hawaii.

Her garden was her pride and joy, it was truly spectacular. She had what the family called "magic fingers" she could out pick blackberries and pull weeds quicker than anyone else in the family. You could find a little bit of everything in her garden, from beautiful roses to irises to even poppies. Mrs. Buchanan could work circles around people half her age and just three years ago still mowed her yard every week.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Buchanan is preceded in death by husband, W.T. Buchanan, her daughter, Sarah Jones, great-granddaughter, Candy Burnham and ten siblings.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Larry Jones; grandchildren, Connie Cole, Larry (Shannon) Jones, Jr., Dr. Jeremy (Dr. Lori Haycraft) Jones: great-grandchildren, Dale (Vanessa) Ford, Lana (Mark) Covington, Emily (Clint) Davis, Taylor (Alicia) Jones, and Reagan Jones; brother, Mack (Carol) Orsbon, and great great-grandchildren, Aaron Romines, Roger Romines and Lattie Beth Covington.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2pm with Dr. Llyod Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 11th from 10am until the time of service.
