Paul Sanford Wilson, age 70, of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on March 17, 1956. Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria Wilson; his parents, Robert L. and Sallye M. Wilson; his brothers: Johnny Wilson James Wilson; and his niece, Amber Minnis.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory of his loving daughter, Jessica Wilson; grandchildren, Josten Clayborn, Emma Clayborn, and Dallas Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Kadence Payne and Ian-James Chapman.
Paul spent more than 45 years as a dedicated truck driver. Throughout his career, he also worked with MTV and CMT, taking great pride in his work and in the relationships, he built along the way.
He was a man who stood firmly for what he believed was right and was known for his honestly, loyalty, and unwavering character. Paul deeply loved his wife, Maria, and devoted himself to caring for his mother, Sallye. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Paul loved fishing, NASCAR, golf, old country music, and dancing to just about any kind of music. He was especially fond of Busch Beer and treasured the many laughs and memories shared with friends over a drink at The Pit in Springfield. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved mule, Katie.
Serving as Paul-carriers will be Billy, Dallas, Rudy, Tim, Michael, Aiden, Stump and Luke.
Honorary Paul-carrier will be Josten, Tommy, Kenny, Doc, Freddy and Carlos.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Pit of Springfield, Tennessee in Paul’s memory.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am, all at Springfield Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow.
