Phillis Reyna Folse age 69 of Greenbrier passed to her heavenly home on April 12, 2022.
She was born on June 14, 1952 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Eurl Hargrove and Mary Frances Ivie Van Conett. Phillis was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She graduated from Bridgeport High School, Bridgeport, MI. Instead of perusing her vocal career like her music teacher wanted, Phillis set out on a road trip across the United States. Later in life her favorite places to visit were the old plantation homes of Louisiana. Phillis met the love her life through a "It takes two" newspaper ad, a simple dinner date with the Auburn-haired woman turned into 25 magical years with Percy.
Phillis was an amazing horticulturist. Most of her work was in the Delta Garden, Opryland Hotel. She could make an orchid plant grow from corkboard on a tree trunk. When she first started at Opryland they toured the facility and even the Grand Ole Opry stage. The story goes that she just walked up on stage and started singing. It made the whole group go quiet as they listen to her beautiful song.
In addition to her parents, Phillis is preceded in death by her stepfather, Kenneth Van Conett and siblings, Carolyn Butler, Jack Cunningham, and Joseph Van Conett.
Phillis is survived by her beloved husband, Percy A. Folse; daughters, Kimberly Folse and Lisa (Chris) May; son, Jason (Marsha) Hargrove; sister, Deborah (Ray) Davenport and son, Jason Davenport.
