IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randall Coit
Mullenix
September 8, 1961 – March 28, 2026
Randall (Randy) Coit Mullenix, a devoted servant of the Lord and family, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, in Springfield. Born on September 8, 1961, Randy lived a life defined by unwavering loyalty, kindness, and a deep devotion to God, his family, and his community.
Growing up on a wrecking & salvage yard on Route 66 taught Randy the value of hard work at an early age. He spent many years driving a wrecker for his father helping to support the family business. With determination, he pursued his education, earning his A&P licenses from Spartan School of Aeronautics and later furthering his theological training with a bachelor’s degree from Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana.
Randy’s heart was rooted in ministry and service to his Savior. He served as Assistant Pastor at Gospel Light Baptist Church from 1993 to 1995, and then at Temple Baptist Church in Tucumcari, New Mexico, where he faithfully ministered as Assistant Pastor and Youth Leader from 1995 to 2001. In 2001, he joined South Haven Baptist Church, where he later became Assistant Pastor and Facilities Manager, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on the congregation he so dearly loved.
He was a man who believed that doing the right thing wasn’t a choice—it was simply the way things were meant to be done. Nowhere was that more evident than at South Haven, where he stood firm in his principles, ensuring that everyone—including contractors—followed the rules, delivered their best work, and helped protect the community. He treated others with genuine respect yet never wavered when it came to what was right. Consistently, he served as a faithful steward of the church and its ministry, earning the trust of those around him through his unwavering integrity.
A deeply faithful and godly man, Randy was known and loved for his humor, generosity, and the lasting influence he had on youth and young men. He found great joy in teaching Sunday school, Master Clubs, and speaking in chapel services. His compassion extended beyond the church walls, as he faithfully visited nursing homes and cared for others in meaningful ways. Randy’s passions were both varied and vibrant. He made history as the first football coach at South Haven, leading the team to a state championship victory—a highlight he cherished deeply. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed water skiing, camping, and shooting. Above all, he treasured time with his grandchildren. Playing with Legos, watching old cartoons, building forts, and knocking them down with matchbox cars were his way of creating memories filled with laughter and joy.
Randy was a beloved husband to Trudy Mullenix and a proud father to Michael (Kelly) Mullenix, Miranda (Ian) Heroux, and Kendall (Reagan) Mullenix. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Mason, Madison, Kate, Heidi, Eden, and Graham. He was also a son to James B. Mullenix, Sr., and a brother to James B. Mullenix, Jr., Chad Mullenix, Vicki (Steve) Richardson, Deborah (Dan) Owens, and Shane (Theresa) Mullenix. He was a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews and a treasured friend to countless others.
He was preceded in death by his beloved stepmother, Faye Mullenix, and his mother, Mary Gayle Gilliam.
