Sandra Courtney Sawyer, 68, was called home on the evening of December 16, 2020 after battling COVID-19 and pneumonia for several weeks.

Sandy was born on March 31, 1952 to Rose Mary and William Courtney in Cincinnati, Ohio, but called Nashville home for most of her life. She is a graduate of East High School and worked at East Side Pharmacy before beginning her career at Commerce Union Bank. After a 24 year career in banking, she began a second career as a very successful real estate agent. She was passionate about her work and took pride in finding the perfect home for every client.

Above all else, Sandy was a devout Catholic and follower of Christ. She was a long time member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Springfield, TN and most recently attended Our Lady of the Lake in Hendersonville, TN. Sandy's greatest joy was being a loving mom to Daniel, and was recently promoted to Grandma. Over the last year, she has cherished every moment spent with her grand baby. Sandy was an incredible mom, grandma, sister, aunt, friend, and co-worker who never missed a birthday or a chance to celebrate her loved ones. We will desperately miss her caring spirit, inclusiveness, and her servant heart.

Sandy is proceeded in death by her parents, William and Rose Mary Courtney. She is survived by her son Daniel, his wife, Laura, and their son, Dax. She is also survived by her three sisters, Ragena Richardson and her husband Jim, Victoria Fitzpatrick and her husband John Driscoll, and Melody Bond. Sandy also had many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, along with an incredible tribe of dear friends she considered family.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 10am until 12pm at Springfield Funeral Home. The family will have a Private Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church with burial to follow. Online condolences can be made at www.SpringfielFH.com.

These arrangements were entrusted to Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home and Cremation Center 4005 Memorial Blvd Springfield, TN 37172: 615-384-5437.
