Stephen Eugene Barney, age 63 of Nashville passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Alive Hospice Madison Campus.

He was born on June 20, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois to Rusty Jolene Barney and the late Gene Barney and was a graduate of Antioch High School. Stephen owned his own AAA Air Conditioning and Heating but his passion was for their family project of "Cuddle Up To Jesus". Stephen was described as a sweet man, with a deep love for his family especially his "Sissy." He loved playing basketball, working out and dancing.

Through Stephens life he over came many roadblocks and, in the end, persevered through everything. He had a great smile and a goofy laugh. Stephen would tell the worse jokes but his laugh would make everyone laugh no matter how horrible it was. Dee remembers the many nights over the last fifteen years sitting up talking about everything and nothing. Those nights and many other memories will be what keeps Stephens memory alive in his family for years to come.

In addition to his dad, Stephen was welcomed home by his son, William Shawn Barney, with the baseball and glove ready.

He is survived by mother, Rusty Jolene (Jerry) Tritto; daughter, Wendy Lynn Barney; sister, Dee Lynn Bischoff; brothers, Samuel Leroy (Belinda) Barney and Mitchell Clay (Ellen) Webb; and nieces, Brandy Nicole (Derek) Holcomb, Summer Leigh McCurdy, Brooklyn Page Null and Deavahah Haley Null.

A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 12:00pm with Pastor Harry Yates officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home.
