William Speer

Rev. William C. "Billy" Speer, age 64 of Springfield, TN and formerly of Florida, passed away October 25, 2016 surrounded by his family. Billy was born on August 7, 1952 in Westchester, Pennsylvania to the late John H. Speer, III and Joycelyn Carter Speer. He was a graduate of Groveland High School, Word of Life Bible Institute and attended Clearwater Christian College. Following his education, Billy spent over forty years serving the Lord as an evangelist and musician; also travelling as a soloist with Word of Life and Life Action Singers. He will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paula Speer; son, B.J. Speer; sisters, Beatrice Ann Steele of Clearwater, FL and Carol Freitag of Blairsville, GA; and brother, Jack Speer of Lutz, FL. A Life Celebration Service honoring Billy will be held on Tuesday, November 1st at 12:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Calder and Rev. Paul Harsh officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family after the burial in the funeral home reception center. Interment will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Billy Speer Ministries, P.O. Box 422, Greenbrier, TN 37073 for furthering the gospel.
