Clarke Traughber

May 24, 1936 — April 29, 2022

Ashburn

Clarke “JC” Traughber, age 85 of Ashburn passed away at his home on April 29, 2022.

He was born on May 24, 1936 to the late Hugh and Mary Traughber, Sr. In Springfield. After attending Springfield High School, Clarke went to work for the Borthick Farms for the next 60 + years. Living and working on the farm Clarke started his morning at 4am in the dairy barn, heading home for breakfast and then plowing the fields before returning that evening for one more round of milking. He enjoyed rabbit hunting with Mark, fishing and raising beagles having up to eleven at one time.

Over the years Clarke continued to work for the Borthick’s. His world was changed one Thanksgiving when Sherri Kolle took him up on a dinner date.  That night would continue for 30 daffodil seasons and together making their way to their Savior. Sherri recalled countless picnics she would take to Clarke while he was cutting hay and working the fields or running him a Pineapple milkshake on a hot summer day. She described him as her Boaz- her husband that was her one true love, strong and always stood beside her. They enjoyed worshiping at Oak Grove Baptist Church and  Springfield Baptist Church with Cathy and her family, spending time talking with Lynda about the Atlanta Braves or thanksgiving dinners with his siblings and their family.

One of Sherri’s favorite memories was one summer evening as they sat on the back porch swinging, Clarke saying he was so Thankful for everything the Lord had provided for them.

In addition to his parents, Clarke is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Henry Traughber and sister, Sue Freeland.

He is survived by his wife Sherri Traughber of 25 years; children, Cathy (Mike) Fowler, Mark (Melissa) Traughber, Lynda (Rick) Feeley and Casey Moore; grandchildren, Robert (Sarah) Fowler, Stephen Fowler, Keri (Patrick) Bailey, Amber (Kirt) Mitchell, Kaitlyn Traughber, Kristen (Tom) Olmstead, Megan (Michael Fedewa and Emma Grace Walker; great-grandchildren, Kaylyn Fowler, Wesley Fowler, Angelina Bailey, Hunter Bailey, Clara Bailey, Gwen Bailey, CharlotteFedewa and Quinn Fedewa; siblings, Joyce (Jake) Leding, Hugh (Joyce) Traughber, Jr. , Paul (Kaye) Traughber, Billy (Patti) Traughber, and Bobby Traughber; a host of nieces and nephews.
