Dennis Ball

August 12, 1968 — June 21, 2021

Springfield

Dennis A. Ball, age 51, of Springfield passed away on June 21, 2021, at Skyline Medical Center.

He was born Dennis Aaron Ball on August 12, 1969, to John Edward and Mary Francis Ball in Detroit, Michigan. Dennis is a 1987 graduate of White House High School and completed his Associates Degree in Psychology in 2007 from Vol State. He was currently a Lab Supervisor at RKW North America in Franklin, KY.

Dennis met the love of his life, DeAnna Bush, at a high school basketball game and they married 3 years later on May 28, 1990. They were blessed with two beautiful children. Over the years, Dennis and DeAnna enjoyed traveling together exploring new places. Some of their favorite places were Germany and Belgium. They traveled last spring to Mexico and this past anniversary enjoyed time in Key West, Florida. One of DeAnna’s favorite memories was a birthday trip for Dennis to Las Vegas to see a Rebelution concert. She surprised Dennis with an Area 51 “Top Secret” tour where they toured the area, visited the Area 51 entrance and had alien burgers at Little A’Le’Inn Hotel. Dennis was a huge Ancient Aliens fan, and this was right up his alley. His interest in Aliens and other oddities always made for interesting conversations at night during commercials between him and Casey on what was real and not real. He once admitted he knew the truth but enjoyed the heated conversation they would have together.  He was also a big trivia buff, often spouting off random facts that others would google to make sure they were true.

He had a personality that made you love him and his spot on “Dad Jokes” would have you rolling in laughter before long. Dennis from an early age enjoyed play the guitar and other musical instruments. He and his brother, Jim, currently played in a band called Cross Bones. He was very proud of his son Zakk’s decision to join the Navy. After boot camp Dennis’s band played while Dennis sang the song “Kryptonite” and dedicated it to Zakk. Dennis, along with his dad and brothers were certified scuba divers and often took dive trips together. Before the flood of 2010 they were all a part of the Scuba diving team at the Aquarium Restaurant at Opry Mills, where they would wish people Happy Birthday or just entertain guest while feeding the fish and swimming with shark. Dennis also enjoyed a round of golf with his friends or letting Cody and Kat know it was “Go Time” as they played Call of Duty after a long day at work. After all the hours he put in at work or with friend it didn’t compare to the endless hours Dennis spent with his grandchildren as their Papa. These by far were his favorite times. Being their Papa was the best reward for being the amazing husband and father he had been for so many years.

Mr. Ball is preceded in death by his father, John Edward Ball; brother, John Allan Ball and nephew, Joseph Eric Bush, II.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, DeAnna D. Ball; children, Sharon Casey Ball and Dennis Zakkary(Victoria Logan) Ball; grandchildren, Victoria Reign Ball, Breanna Nichole Whitehead, Brian O’Neal Whitehead and DeAnna Johnlyn Ball; mother, Mary Francis Ball; brothers, Benjamin Edward (Melanie) Ball and James Michael (Pamela) Ball; sister-in-law, Kelley Ball and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
