Springfield

Joseph Dwayne Guinn, age 64 of Springfield passed away at his home on September 14, 2021.

Joe was born on June 3, 1957 to Donald Guinn and Zora Harris in San Diego, California. He spent his high school career in the Philippines while his father served in the Navy. There he became a leader and was elected as student body President in his Senior year. After he graduated, Joe enlisted in the Marine Corp and followed in his fathers’ footsteps into the Armed Forces. In less than one year, Joe was promoted to Sergeant and ranked #1 out of 250 men. He was honorable discharged after four years of service and was accepted to the University of Southern California. He was the first person in his immediate family to attend college and graduate. He finished out his degree at Chapman University in Orange, California.

He was described as a charismatic and passionate man. Joe had the ability to connect with anyone no matter their walk of life. He could make a stranger feel like they had been friends for years. He had the unique ability to make people laugh, which would break the ice and allow people to relax and truly get to know each other. His son Chaz really admired his ability to walk into any room or situation and make the room his friend.

Joe loved his family. He loved spending time with them and supporting their goals. Joe was so proud the night Chaz’s football team beat their college rival. So excited that Joe joined the students as they stormed the field and he climbed the field goal. This didn’t go unnoticed and made the front page of the newspaper. Joe loved College football and the experience it provided.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Donald Guinn.

He is survived by his children, Chaz (Jamie) Guinn and Corinna (Dan) Harnett, and Danielle Guinn. Mother, Zora Harris; siblings, Steve Guinn, Sabrina Webster, Reginald Guinn, Tony Guinn and Dee Dee Guinn; six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration will be held at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.SpringfieldFH.com.

These arrangements were entrusted to Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home and Cremation Center 4005 Memorial Blvd Springfield, TN 37172: 615-384-5437.
